Pistons-Lakers is a reference to the NBA rivalry between the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers that gained prominence during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The rivalry featured some of the game's most dominant players, including Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, Dennis Rodman, and Michael Cooper. The Pistons and Lakers met in three NBA Finals series during that period, with the Lakers winning two titles (1988 and 1989) and the Pistons winning one (1990). The rivalry was marked by the Pistons' physical, bruising style of play, which earned them the nickname "The Bad Boys," and the Lakers' high-flying, Showtime offense.
